Basically AMPED versions are floating license server that tells the application that the licence is on the server and that it is ok to run in unrestricted mode. AMPED versions are available for all the most interesting programs. Check the forum thread for more information.
You need to install the RLM server from the torrent link above. Instructions are in the torrent.
I will explain for the OSX version.
once the RLM server is installed, you need to navigate to where the server is installed to copy the .lic, .opt, and .set files in the following folder. open finder and click on go (on the menu bar), select “Go to folder” and type this: /Users/Shared/rlm
paste the files mentioned above in there and that is it.
Some people on OSX, including myself, had some issues with the license server not starting. to know if the server started properly, open your browser and type the following address to check: http://localhost:5054/home.asp.
You should get the server webpage. if it doesn’t load, open terminal and type this: /Users/Shared/rlm/rlm and paste the message you get here or pm me and I’ll try and help you. Most errors are being dealt with on the forum thread. you can try and get some help there as well.
you should get an error message like this:
02/16 20:58 (rlm) License server started on XXXXXXX.local
02/16 20:58 (rlm) Server architecture: x64_m1
02/16 20:58 (rlm) License files:
02/16 20:58 (rlm)
02/16 20:58 (rlm) Web server starting on port 5054
(rlm) Cannot bind Web Server port 5054, exiting
02/16 20:59 (rlm) Local hostname is not in network database.
02/16 20:59 logout
the most common error for new installs, if you get the message above, on OSX is solved with the following:
open terminal and type: sudo pico /etc/hosts
in there add the line : 127.0.0.1 XXXXXXX.local
whatever XXXXXXX.local is for your computer. Get XXXXXXX from the error log for your computer. You host file should look like the one below.
Type control-x to save the file. Press enter and DO NOT CHANGE THE NAME OF THE FILE!. It should work. Restart your computer if you need to.
# Host Database
# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
# when the system is booting. Do not change this entry.
